In our bodies, electrolytes include sodium, potassium, calcium, bicarbonate, magnesium, chloride, and hydrogen phosphate. Electrolytes are vital for the normal functioning of the human body. During strenuous activity, we often drink a lot of water which dillutes the elctrolyte concentration in our body. To prevent this, it's recommended to supplement with an electrolyte supplement during more active physical activity.
